What should your Website contain?

Key Business Information

Your website should include as much information about your business as possible. The list below is not exhaustive and not all items may apply to your business, but it gives a good outline of what you should include. Each page should be equivalent to one screen of information.

  • The main purpose of your business.
  • Telephone numbers, contact names and email addresses.
  • Where you are based and how to find you, or what areas you cover.
  • What makes your business different.
  • An indication of prices if appropriate.
  • Examples of previous work undertaken.
  • Testimonials from clients.
  • Accreditations or certification logos.

Webpage Layout

Your website should confirm to the usual standard page design so that people are familiar with it as soon as they view the site, and can understand how to navigate round it.

  • Your company logo, graphic or name across the top of the page.
  • A menu bar, giving direct access to all the pages in your site, this may on the left hand side or across the top, immediately below your logo.
  • Text, pictures and the main page content in the central area.
  • Trade certifications and logos in a panel on the right hand side, or beneath the menu bar on the left.
